Susan Neill-Fraser: A Case That Still Raises Questions
Susan Neill-Fraser was convicted in 2010 of murdering her partner, Bob Chappell, aboard their yacht in Hobart in 2009. Chappell’s body and the murder weapon were never found.
Neill-Fraser has always maintained her innocence. Her appeals were unsuccessful, including a 2021 appeal and an application to the High Court in 2022.
She was released on parole in 2022 after serving 13 years in prison. In 2026, a Tasmanian Supreme Court decision also invalidated a parole condition that had restricted her from speaking publicly about her case.
The case remains one of Australia’s most debated criminal cases, with Neill-Fraser continuing to fight to clear her name.
